Suggested Multi-Day Tours with John
Join me for one day, two days, or the full tour, whatever suits your schedule. As a native Beijinger, I know the city and the surrounding areas very well, and I’ll be not only your driver but also your friendly guide who helps you discover the real Beijing.
Day 1 – The Great Wall at Mutianyu
Let me take you to the beautiful Mutianyu section of the Great Wall, one of the most scenic and best-preserved parts, known for great views and fewer crowds. After your walk on the Wall, you can choose to take the fun and exciting toboggan ride down, a favorite highlight for many visitors. For lunch, I’ll bring you to a local restaurant I personally recommend, with delicious food at a great price.
Day 2 – Summer Palace & Temple of Heaven
You will explore the peaceful lakes and gardens of the Summer Palace, followed by the majestic Temple of Heaven, where emperors once prayed for good harvests. As a special highlight, you can go to the Echo Wall, where you can try the fascinating acoustic effect used by ancient emperors. For lunch, I’m happy to take you to a famous Beijing Duck restaurant.
Day 3 – Tiananmen Square, Forbidden City & Historic Hutongs
This day begins at Tiananmen Square before you enter the grand Forbidden City. Afterwards, you walk through the traditional Hutong neighborhoods to experience old Beijing life. A special highlight could be a visit to the courtyards, where you can get a glimpse into traditional Beijing living. You can also visit the Drum and Bell Towers and include some shopping if you'd like.
Day 4 – Countryside Tour: Glass Skywalk or Chuandixia Village
For this relaxing day trip outside the city, you can choose between the modern Glass Skywalk or the charming 600-year-old village of Chuandixia. The highlight here is the stunning panoramic mountain views, perfect for photos and a peaceful escape from the city. Both destinations offer a unique look at rural life and beautiful landscapes.
